This Privacy Policy applies to QuantBuilt, a quantitative analytics platform for Indian markets. QuantBuilt is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser, broker, or portfolio manager. We provide research and analytical tools only — not investment advice.
1. Introduction
QuantBuilt ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at quantbuilt.in (the "Platform"). This policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 ("SPDI Rules"), and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDPA"). By accessing or using QuantBuilt, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information: a) Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you register. If you sign in via Google or GitHub OAuth, we receive your name and email from those providers. b) Usage Data: Pages visited, tools used, features accessed, session duration, and interaction logs. This helps us improve the Platform. c) Portfolio & Watchlist Data: Stocks, funds, and portfolios you save or build within the Platform. This data is stored to provide you with a personalised experience. d) Device & Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers collected automatically via cookies and server logs. e) Communication Data: Emails or messages you send us for support or feedback. We do not collect your Aadhaar number, PAN, bank account details, demat account credentials, or any payment information. QuantBuilt is an analytics and research platform — we do not execute trades or hold funds on your behalf.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: • Provide, operate, and maintain the Platform and its features • Authenticate your identity and manage your account • Personalise your experience (saved portfolios, preferences, watchlists) • Send transactional emails such as email verification, password reset, and account alerts • Analyse usage patterns to improve performance and add new features • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents • Comply with applicable Indian laws and regulatory requirements • Respond to your support queries and feedback We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process your personal data on the following grounds: • Consent: You provide consent when you register and accept these terms. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account. • Contractual Necessity: Processing required to provide the services you have requested. • Legitimate Interests: Improving platform security, preventing fraud, and analysing aggregate usage trends. • Legal Obligation: Compliance with applicable Indian laws, court orders, or regulatory directions from SEBI, RBI, or other competent authorities.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances: a) Service Providers: Third-party vendors who assist us in operating the Platform (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics). These providers are contractually bound to process data only as instructed by us and to maintain appropriate security. b) Data Sources: We use Yahoo Finance (yfinance) and screener.in for market data. Your personal data is not shared with these sources. c) Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or a request from a government authority including SEBI, IRDAI, or law enforcement agencies in India. d) Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to the same privacy protections. e) With Your Consent: Any other sharing will only occur with your explicit consent.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to: • Keep you logged in across sessions (authentication cookies) • Remember your preferences such as theme (dark/light mode) • Analyse Platform usage via anonymised analytics You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features such as staying logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically: • Account data is retained until you delete your account • Usage logs are retained for up to 12 months for security and analytics purposes • Portfolio and saved data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion • Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days after deletion You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at privacy@quantbuilt.in.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable security practices as required under the SPDI Rules, including: • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we never store plaintext passwords • All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS • JWT-based authentication with short-lived access tokens and refresh token rotation • Account lockout after repeated failed login attempts • Rate limiting on all API endpoints to prevent abuse • Regular security reviews of our infrastructure No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you as required under applicable law.
9. Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights as a Data Principal: • Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you • Right to Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations • Right to Grievance Redressal: Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer • Right to Nominate: Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time; this will not affect the lawfulness of prior processing To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer at privacy@quantbuilt.in. QuantBuilt is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

The Platform may contain links to external websites such as NSE India, BSE India, SEBI, or news sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Platform. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
